Tony Leneau
Tony Leneau is a Maryland-based artist primarily using digital art as his preferred way of creating. Their artistic focus surrounds multiple scientific fields including anatomy, speculative evolution, ecology, zoology, and environmentalism. Tony is undergraduate attending Loyola and will be graduating in 2026. The natural sciences and his environment encourage his artistic directions and make a template for his work. This allows for a broad range of pieces.
“Speculation of a Chiroptera”
Speculation of a Chiroptera encompasses the science sphere and art sphere, respectively. Through environmental pressures and reproductive isolation, I created my own species of bats. One individual is the focal point of my studies and presentation. Five visual Figures Illustrate this species including three encorches showing the skeletal, muscle, and outer morphology. Along with them is also a full environmental drawing showing the bat’s ecology. Its phylogenetic tree explains its taxonomy and historical relations. This group of works illustrates the close relation that the science realm shares with the art realm. Zoology and evolution have used art to visualize hard concepts historically, so I wanted this piece to follow the same rules in modern times using my ability. Research papers, anatomical figures, and taxonomic graphs are all influences on this piece. Different bat species are referenced as well.
